Hello.
I started the South Beach Diet again.
I started on November 9th and I'm going to do Phase One until Thanksgiving. Let's just hope Thanksgiving doesn't make me gain all that I have/will lose.
I started out at 151 Pounds.
Todays weight is 147 Pounds, but I think a lot of that was water weight, but woohoo anyway!
My goal weight is, as always 133 Pounds.
I know I can do this.
I am doing this.
I have the self control.
Food does not control me.
I just need it to keep me alive and well nourished.
I don't need it for fun.
I am excited to be 14 pounds lighter in a few weeks.
I will officially be lighter than Justin for the first time ever!!!!!!!!!
Now that will be something. We are totally going to get family pictures when that happens.
Love, Jen

Chuck-a-rama
I just ate there. And I had TWO scones with cinnamon honey butter. It was sooo good! But I won't be doing that again for a while. I hope this won't screw up my weight loss. We shall see......
Stuck
So, I've been on phase one for five days now and I've stayed at 145.9 for the past three. Better than 148, but I was hoping for a quicker weight loss. ;(

Playing catch up
So, I did Phase one for about four days starting April 1st and lost like 2 pounds. But since then I've gained about five!!!! So, I'm starting it again. I started yesterday. My starting weight was 148. So wish me luck. I need it. I am really determined now because I bought some new clothes and some are just a tad bit snug. Also, Justin's been checking the scale when I'm on it lately and he said I only have a few more pounds to go before i COULD WEIGH LESS THAN HIM! He weighs about 140. So, I'm back to my original goal weight of 133. That could be a possiblility. I cannot slack. at all. I can do it!

I have started Phase One of the South Beach Diet again, starting today.
This morning's weight was 149.9.
I am really hoping to get to my goal weight of 133 pounds.
Then I will go shopping.
Wish me luck.
Tonight I plan to eat flank steak and green beans. yum.
I have been eating way too many nuts today. But I haven't cheated at all.

Slacker
So. I've been a slacker lately. For example, right now i AM EATING A FROZEN BURRITO! Crazy, I know. All that refined processed white carbs and who knows what they mixed with the beef. But I feel good. I'm maintaining a 147-149 weight. I decided I'm going to do the South Beach Diet phase one again. Starting April 1st.
Also, the other day I bought some clothes. I got four pairs of pants at Walmart. I liked them. They are skinny jeans. And two pairs were $3.00 and the other two were $5.00. Seriously! Good deals. I couldn't pass em up. Sweeeeeeeet. Ok bye.

high school
Guess what!? I dug out an old box of high school jeans the other day and decided to try some of them on and so I did. And every.......single..... pair fit me!!!!!!!!! And some of them were even a little loose!!!!!!!!!!!! It felt amazing!! I know I wasn't super skinny back in high school but I feel really good about that. I still have just a few pounds to lose before I can get new clothes but my high school clothes will do for now, at least until I lose that last 5-15 pounds. I can stand to be 5-8 years behind the times, with a little retro here and there.
by the way, I have moved on to phase three, except for fruits, and I've maintained a 148 weight.

Phase Two
I have officially moved on to Phase Two of the South Beach Diet. I can drink skim milk again Yay! I can eat whole wheat tortillas and non fat yogurt. Oh the possibilities! My weight has stayed at 147-148 and I feel great! I have noticed that during the weekends I get a little crazy and hungry and eat way too much but during the week I feel a lot more in control and eat a lot better. I drink lots of water and snack on nuts and light string cheese.

Progress Report
147.0 this morning. Excellent. I only have just three tiny little pounds to lose. Yesterday I went to the mall and saw all these beautiful clothes and thought to myself I shouldn't buy anything until I reach my goal. wEll I did buy a leopard print jacket but it was only $2.97. How could I pass that up?
I played Volleyball last night and went swimming. I guess I was sort of trying to make up for last week. I didn't exercise at all last week. I am such a slacker. I know I can do better. I am looking forward to warmer weather so that I can go on bike rides every day. I can so do that.
By the way, I made meatball soup on wednesday and it was a hit. I made a lot of it. I made some for the four other families in my dinner group and my bunco group which consists of 11 ladies. And we have been eating it for lunch and nighttime snacks since then. I love how flavorful yet healthy it is. And all the ingredients are South Beach Diet approved. I definitly need to make that one again.
Another thing is on saturday I went to my sister's bridal shower and lots of people coudl tell I had lost weight. That felt awesome. And at bunco they noticed as well. So I felt really good and more motivated than ever.
Today I took the kids to walmart and got a package of South Beach Diet nuts. It was six dollars! Kind of a lot. I also got some South Beach Diet chocolate bars. I hope buying those things was worth it. When I think about the long term effects of losing weight I think it is. I also got a huge cinnamon doughnut for the boys. We came home and I had a tiny tiny bite. But I feel okay about it. They couldn't eat it all even after offering it heated up and everything so I am going to throw the rest away. Right now.

stuck
So, I'm stuck on 148.4. Having only four pounds to lose shouldn't be that hard, right? Last night I got sick with flu-like symptoms and massive stomach pain. It was not fun. I had some chicken noodle soup including about 5-8 carrots and 6-8 noodles. After that I felt even more sick. Eating whole grains again is going to be quite an adjustment. I am getting sick of having eggs for breakfast every single day. I long for the time I can have wheaties or even oatmeal. I told myself no new clothes until I reach 144, but gees that is going to be harder than I though. The first 12 pounds came off rather easily. I am considering moving on to phase two but I don't know. In a way it would be giving up on my target weight of 144.
Okay I just made the decision. I am staying on a strict phase one for the rest of this third week. Just until sunday. Then I will incorporate whole grains and some fruits and skim milk back into my diet. Oh how I miss skim milk. That's one pound a day. Kind of a lot but I CAN DO IT!

goodbye baby fat
This is the second day in a row I weighed myself and the scale read 147.9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is awesome, but I can't get too confident, I know the weight can come back just as easily as I lost it. I need to keep going if I'm going to reach my target weight.

hope
So, I weighed myself last night and I was 154! I am really glad because that time of day is when I weigh the most. So, I have lost seven pounds on the first week of the South Beach Diet! Woo hoo!!!!! I am more hopeful that I really will reach my goal of at least 144, and maybe even 133. Today I have been doing really really good. No treats, even if they are sugar free. I had quiche for breakfast and slices of cheese and spinach and tilapia for lunch. I have also been drinking tons and tons of water.

getting desperate...
Yes, I got a little desperate this weekend. It feels like I'm the only one who is doing this and having restrictions on different foods, and it's hard! So, I went to the grocery store. I got sugar free reeses, sugar free jolly ranchers, mini bottles of diet coke, sugar free fudgesicles, and sugar free chocolate pudding. I had one of each and felt much better. I'm still working on that first diet coke. I just take a sip here and a sip there when I need a tiny boost. But I am not giving up. I am feeling good, and I know I an reach my goal if I keep with it. I do need to cut back on the sweets though, even if they are sugar free.
My curretn weight is 152.6. Which is okay, but I know it would have been better had I not bought all those goodies. I need to be stronger. I'm rededicating myself this week. Starting with my fast today, I'm skipping both breakfast and lunch.

pHASE One: THE LAST FEW DAYS...
Tuesday, WednesdAY, and thursday were pretty good days for me. I had yellow squash, an omelet, turkey meat, lots of string cheese and cheddar cheese, beef flank steak, pork, lots of differently prepared chicken, broccoli, fresh green beans, and water, water, water.
I have been craving orange juice and rice.
I did have some sugar free chocolate pudding. Even though I think that might be on the list I still feel guilty for it.
As for my weight I feel good about it. I weight myself about every night and morning. In the mornings I have had readings like this: 151.9, 152, 150.4!!! But then at night I weight myself again and it's back up to 156, 157.4, even 158!!! My fluctuations are crazy! But I really do feel like I'm losing some weight, yesterday my pants felt loose, I kept having to pull them up.
Right now for breakfast I am making quiche: eggs, spinach, cheese, mushrooms, onions, and peppers. Yum!
I feel more satisfied when I try interesting SDB recipes.
I just weighed myself three times, and at the moment I am 151.4. I realize I weigh less in the mornings, but its giving me hope, so why not!?

my weight loss goals and rewards
My target weight is 144 pounds. My ideal weight is 133 pounds. If I get down to 144, than I will go on a big shopping spree( a few hundred dollars). If I get down to 133, than I will go on a gigantic shopping spree(several hundred dollars).
I just looked up on the height and weight chart for women and anyhere between 133 and 147 would be considered healthy for my height( 5'7.5'') and frame size(medium).

Phase One- Day 1
So, yesterday was Day 1 of my diet. It went pretty well. We went to my cousin's mission farewell and there was a lot of goodies I had to resist but I did it. (cakes, brownies, juice, fresh rolls out the oven, carrot cake, etc, etc!) I had eggs for breakfast, lunchmeat and cheese for lunch, and a modified taco salad for dinner, and eggs for a late night snack. I can feel my body changing already. Probably not losing the weight yet, but just flushing out all the sugar is hard but good. I didn't cheat once! woohoo!
I am pretty detemined to keep with it.
My starting weight as of last week was 161.
My Day 1 weight was 157.9.
I think a lot of that was just water weight but sweet! Looks like a great start to me!!!

bump, set, spike it, that's the way I like it!
I love playing volleyball. I am actually pretty good at it, too. I also like basketball. I have been playing basketball with some ladies at my churchhouse every thursday night for a few months now. But it's safe to say every time I play with these ladies I am either the worst player or at least in the bottom three. But I have enjoyed the break away from home, the adrenaline rush, and most of the sisters have been very nice to me, even though my skill level isn't as high as them. I have been improving my skills though, which is good. I played Jr. Jazz basketball for about 3 or 4 years as a 10-14 year old, and I was okay. I also played church basketball every year I was in young womens. I'm pretty sure most or all of these ladies I play with played on their high school team and some of them college ball.
As for volleyball, I played one year in high school, and every year in churchball. I just started playing with a team in Springville in Springville's city league women's volleyball. They give us shirts and everthing. We had our first game on thursday night and I rocked it! It was so fun. We won both of our games. Sweet! It's safe to say I am a much better volleyball player than basketball player. After our games I went over to the church to play basketball and man I was bad. Oh, well. I need to find more oppurtunity to play volleyball in the future but for now this works out.
The past six years I haven't played very many team sports mostly because my hubby, Justin doesn't really like them. But this year I am making a vow to play even though he doesn't play. I forgot how much I really do love it. I really do. It makes me happy and gets me in a better physical shape. What more could I ask for?
My goal is to play an organized sport at least once a week.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet (SBD) is a good diet for me because it encourages you to eat a lot of the same type of food I ate a lot of growing up, meats and vegetables. My dad went on his mission to Japan, and hunting has been a hobby and profession for him ever since I was a baby, so stir frys with a lot of meat or seafood and vegetables were a staple in our home growing up. I also love meats, seafood, and vegetables so that works out well for me. The SBD also allows cheese, which happens to be pretty much my favorite food ever since I was a little girl, so bonus. If you don't LOVE meat, seafood, veggies, and cheese than I do not recommend the SBD to you.
breastfeeding and womanhood
So, I am going to start The South Beach Diet on Sunday, January 31st. I did the same diet in 2008 and lost 15 pounds while on it. Then, I found out I was pregnant. So, I couldn't continue because I was pregnant obviosly, then had my daughter, Francesca, and have been breastfeeding her. She is now almost nine months and she is starting to wean. So I figured it was safe to start this diet now. Currently I breastfeed Francesca twice a day, for 5-10 minutes each time. I think she will be completely weaned in about 4-6 weeks. I also have heard that a woman loses about five pounds after weaning a child so that will work out good. Francesca has been my best nurser so I am a little sad that she is weaning but I feel that it is time. I breastfeed my two sons for about 7 1/2 months each so ten months will be a great accomplishment for me.
I am a little worried about my hormones and emotional state because ever since my daughter started weaning I have been a little moody. I talked to a nurse at my OB-GYN's office and she said it was normal so I don't feel as bad and since I am expecting it I can prepare for it. Oh the joys of being a woman, I love it but, wow, dealing with the emotions is tough, for me and everyone around me I am sure. Also, my aunt said the first week of The South Beach Diet most people are grumpy. My husband, Justin said he will be completely supportive of me going on this diet so I know that will help tremenously.
In addition I wanted to point out that we don't plan on getting pregnant for about 4-5 years so now is a good time to lose the weight, because I can keep it off, at least for a few years.

Why I need to lose weight
1) My current weight is considered "overweight" in the textbooks.
2) I feel like I could do more as a mother at a lower weight. Play more, be more confident, be a healthier example, etc.
3) I feel like I could be a better wife to my husband. (better lover, more flexible, sexier, more attractive)
4) People would respect me more as a confident healthy woman.
5) I could save money on food.
6) Taking time out to exercise would be beneficial physically, mentally, and emotionally.
7) If I could accomplish getting to a better weight, I would feel a lot more confident to do more.
8) To get rid of that slothful, lazy feeling I have been having lately.
9) To look better at my brother's wedding.
10) So I can have the excuse to buy an entire new wardrobe.
